Installing libraries
====================
Make sure you have installed the required libraries for weblog:
- the mysql client library
  http://www.mysql.com (and probably shipped with your distro)
- the bbconf configuration file library
  http://www.dbaseiv.net/code/libbconf.phtml

Preparing the database
======================
Log into mysql as root, execute initialise.sql (from the sql dir)
and set passwords. The weblog password defaults to the password
the parser program uses, www is the user which is ment to query
the database via the web.

Like this:
mysql -u root -p
...
mysql> source initialise.sql
... (you might want to check to see if any errors have occurred)
mysql> SET PASSWORD FOR weblog@localhost = PASSWORD('foo');
mysql> SET PASSWORD FOR www@localhost = PASSWORD('bar');

Updating the browsers/os list (optional)
========================================
If you want your weblog to be updated with the current list
of browsers perform the following actions:

Fetch the list:
wget http://www.dokterbob.net/weblog/browsers-table-sql.php

Log in to mysql:
mysql -u root -p

Drop the table and reload it:
mysql> drop agent;
mysql> source browsers-table-sql.php;

Get apache to log to sql
========================
Untar the mod_log_mysql module or fetch the newest version from
http://www.grubbybaby.com/mod_log_sql/ and compile and install it.

After adjusting the apache configuration file to load the module
you have to add the following lines to the server configuration:
MySQLLoginInfo <dbase_host | localhost> www bar (the password above)
MySQLSocketFile <socket> (only needed when using db on localhost)
MySQLDatabase weblog
MySQLTransferLogTable rawlog
MySQLTransferLogFormat SvURhbsA

Building & installing the program
=================================
If you want to have things nice and insecure you can choose to set
the value of DBPASS at the top of file weblog.c to the password
you just chose in the database preparation above.

Do as usual:
./configure
make
sudo make install (or just make install as root)

Getting the stats out
=====================
For output to, for example, a webpage there are a lot of possibilities.
I think I'm going to work on an PHP implementation ASAP, but on the
site where I've designed this stuff for we use Zope to query the data.
A few examples in SQL can be found in the sql dir.
You could also just use PHPlog on any PHP/MySQL enabled webserver to
fetch the stats nicely formatted. Check the phplog directory.
